high school works 1999-2001

"dream"
made in my junior yr in high school
I loved putting thick acrylic paints with knives (since I wasn't good at oil painting)
I was always into vivid and funky colors and also the interior spaces.
When I was a kid, I always sketched my dream room and showed it to my mom haha.
the charcoal drawing on the top layer is from a real famous painting (I forgot the name! oops)
I think my teacher Michelle gave me an idea of layering with other images.
It was about experimenting and learning.
Now I learn more and more by just looking at my previous work.

"Flowers"
This was one of my few paintings.
(I created 3D sculptures more than paintings)
I loved drawing and painting flowers(from book) because they are simply beautiful!
I remember I had hard time differentiating colors since I had to paint so many different flowers.
I learned there were so many yellows I could make. haha
Our school nurse "Sue" :) loved this piece and bought it. (I miss her!)
It was my first income and I gave it to my mom. hehe

"Jim's Dog"
real quick drawing! loved 'hot pink color' so much haha

This was for weekly senior assignments.
I don't remember if this was from still life, or from imagination. haha
I remember Jason(sculpture teacher) liked it.
I miss him! he was soooo nice! and a great teacher!!

With 2D&Mixed Media class teacher 'Ken'
creating this piece was soooo much fun!
we were supposed to choose some of the cubist paintings and recreated with our imaginations into a relief.
It's all made out of cardboard. I had so much energy at that time. I finished it so fast! haha.
Oh that Pipi Wrong Stocking hair, I sometimes treated my hair like that.
I put wires inside of my hair braids. haha creative, right?
Oh and I loved to carry my camcorder around that time.
(my craving for taking videos started since then..)
I wonder where the tapes are now...
